CrankyDrive Privacy Policy

CrankyDrive is developed and provided by Midwest Recreational Clearinghouse, Inc. (“MRC”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the CrankyDrive application.
Information We Collect
CrankyDrive does not collect personal information or user data on behalf of Midwest Recreational Clearinghouse.
CrankyDrive does not require users to create an account or provide a name, email address, phone number, or other identifying information to use the app.
We do not use CrankyDrive to collect, sell, rent, share, or transmit users’ personal information to MRC or to third parties for advertising, analytics, tracking, or marketing purposes.
Dash Camera Connection
CrankyDrive can connect directly to a compatible dash camera through a local Wi-Fi connection.
This connection allows the app to access features such as available recordings, photographs, and other supported camera functions.
Communication between CrankyDrive and the dash camera occurs locally between the user’s device and the camera. MRC does not receive or store the user’s dash-camera recordings or photographs.
Videos and Photos
CrankyDrive allows users to view, import, save, organize, and manage dash-camera videos and photographs.
Media accessed from a dash camera or SD card remains under the user’s control. CrankyDrive does not automatically upload normal recordings or photographs to MRC servers.
Certain recordings identified by the camera or application as emergency or protected recordings may be automatically preserved within the user’s CrankyDrive library to help prevent accidental loss. These recordings remain under the user’s control and are not transmitted to MRC.
Local Storage and iCloud
Depending on the options selected by the user, CrankyDrive content may be stored locally on the user’s Apple device or synchronized using Apple’s iCloud services.
When iCloud synchronization is enabled, the information is handled through Apple’s iCloud services and the user’s Apple account. MRC does not have access to the user’s personal iCloud account or CrankyDrive media stored within it.
Apple’s handling of information through iCloud is governed by Apple’s own privacy policies and terms.
Device Permissions
CrankyDrive may request access to certain device capabilities necessary to provide its features, including:
- Local network access for communicating with a dash camera.
- Photos or media-library access when the user chooses to save or export photographs or videos.
- Files or storage locations selected by the user for importing or saving media.
These permissions are used to provide the functionality requested by the user and are not used by MRC to collect personal information.
Analytics, Advertising and Tracking
CrankyDrive does not include advertising and does not use user information for advertising purposes.
MRC does not use CrankyDrive to track users across apps or websites and does not sell CrankyDrive user information.
Third-Party Services
CrankyDrive may rely on services provided by Apple as part of the iOS operating system, including iCloud and system-level storage, networking, and media functionality.
Use of these Apple services may be subject to Apple’s applicable privacy policies and terms.
Children’s Privacy
CrankyDrive is a utility application for managing dash-camera media and is not specifically directed toward children. CrankyDrive does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security and User Control
CrankyDrive is designed so that users maintain control over their dash-camera recordings, photographs, and saved media.
Users can manage or delete content stored within CrankyDrive using the functionality provided by the application and applicable Apple device or iCloud controls.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as CrankyDrive changes or as necessary to comply with applicable requirements. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
